Alex Britto began his training at the age of 18 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil with his first instructor Master Fernando Pinduka, a first generation Black Belt of Master Carlson Gracie Sr. He trained with Master Pinduka from white to purple belt and under the tutelage of Master Pinduka he won two state championships one at the rank of blue belt and again as a purple belt. Alex thanks Master Pinduka for teaching him his foundation in Jiu-Jitsu.


In 1996 he began training with Jiu-Jitsu master Sergio “BOLAO” Souza also a top Black Belt instructor and competitor under master Carlson Gracie Sr. and credits Master Souza with helping him perfect his technique over the past ten years.

In 2002 Alex was awarded the prestigious rank of Black Belt from Master Sergio “BOLAO” Souza. In 2002 he came to the United States and founded the Brazilian American Jiu-Jitsu Institute (BAJJI).

Today the BAJJI is still going strong and runs classes in Downingtown and Collegeville, PA with many dedicated men and women taking classes on a daily basis. Alex Britto is the head instructor at the BAJJI and is well known as one of Jiu-Jitsu finest instructors for his technical expertise and for his detailed and effective teaching and training methods.

Alex has a degree in business administration from UERJ University in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and worked as a stock broker before deciding to dedicate his life to teaching and perfecting the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

   
In 2005 Alex Britto, Roberto Atalla and Mauro Chueng founded a RIO GRAPPLING CLUB Association, all of them are Sergio BOLAO Souza’s Black Belts
